Wow...it's a good thing I don't have a cat. Because if I had a cat, it probably would have died today. Things really aren't going my way. Bridget even told me that there must be something really amazing about to happen to me because I've been hit with so much bad stuff lately.
So last night was definitely not one of the highlights of my life. I'm not going to go into details, but I don't think I've ever been as hurt as I was last night. I haven't cried like that in a long time. Thank God for the wonderful friends that I have though. I leaned on them last night and today, and they were definitely there for me. I love them all.
I'm not going to lie though, I woke up this morning feeling pretty sorry for myself. I was mad at myself, I was mad at a person who will remain nameless, and I just really felt like crap. So needless to say, if you had given me some line of crap this morning about how, at least I had my health or my family, yadda yadda yadda, I probably would have wanted to punch you. But later on today, I was actually saying things like that to myself. I was driving down Rt. 80 on my way to Lakeview High School. I started thinking that I was going the wrong way, so I called my Dad. We were discussing it and we figured out that yes, we thought I was headed the wrong way on 80. So I'm in the left lane, and I'm talking to my Dad, and we decide that it would be good for me to turn into one of those emergency turn around things to figure this all out, maybe turn around if need be. (Which, by the way, there was no sign telling me that a u-turn was illegal :) ) Anyways...I put on my turn signal, start slowing down and am getting ready to pull off to the side, and apparently the person behind me wasn't really paying attention, because he just kept on driving, right into the back of my car. Luckily, we were both able to keep control of our cars and get into the emergency turn around...but I don't know how. He must have had a split second reaction time to at least hit the brakes before he hit me, because if he had hit me going 70 mph, both of us definitely could have died. Rt. 80 was really busy and if one of us had gone into the other lane, it would have been bad...really bad. So basically, I started realizing that maybe I should count my blessings a little more, you know, thank God that I am alive, and there are things in my life to be happy about. Like the guy that hit me, he was so nice about it. And I was on the phone with my Dad when it happened, so he was able to talk me through everything. And I'm alive. And miraculously, I'm fine and my car is fine, with the exception of two very small scratches, and the guy is fine and his car is fine.
Tonight I met my Mom at Panera and had a cup of tea with her. I love my Mom. She is amazing. It was so good just to sit there and pour my heart out to her about everything. I don't know what I would do without her. So even though I have had some of the worst couple days of my life, and I'm definitely still hurting big time, I guess I need to try and think about the bright side of life. God loves me, faults and all, and I have an amazing family, and incredible group of friends, and my health, and all that other sappy stuff. This too shall pass.
